The Preliminary Round of competition will be held in your own school the week of Monday 9th November 2026. Online sample tests are available at https://ailo.adaptcentre.ie/puzzles/. The top 100 students from the Preliminary Round will qualify to compete at the National Final in Dublin in March 2027 in individual and team competitions. This year, based on feedback, there will be no regional teams. Students will be randomly allocated to a team. The team round is a fun competition where students will have the opportunity to meet other students from all over the island.
AILO is the official selector for the Irish International team. If AILO successfully acquires external funding, four students from the National Final will represent Ireland at the International Linguistics Olympiad in July 2027.
